For this year’s WCC 2012 in Singapore, Hans will be explaining on his take of overcoming failures and managing technology in a BCM point of view.  When asked him on what would be the highlight of his presentation, this is what he had to say;

“… sitting at 11 km altitude, en route from Amsterdam to Singapore, I think of all aspects of BCM required to bring me safely and effectively to Singapore. Now what would the single point of failure within this process? Back to my own IT (Defense) world in which continuity is a matter which (in) directly lives may depend on. I ask myself the same question even further, what is our single point of failure? We have a lot of techniques, double or triple running, people are involved and trained, and we have done much in the context of (business) continuity and crisis management.  In my personal opinion, but also mirrored with vendors, the answer is both simple and surprising…”

About the Speaker

Hans Boudestein is the Business Continuity Management Expert at De Militaire Inlichtingen – en Veiligheidsdienst (The Military Intelligence – and Security) in the Netherlands. He was awarded with the first BCM Academy Award for Business Continuity Manager of the year, during the fourth edition of the Heliview BCM specialist conference on May 22nd, 2008 in Zeist. The BCM Academy Award is a form of recognition given to Business Continuity Manager, who in recent times have positively identified his or her expertise in the industry. Nominations were done based on research and evaluation by the panel of jury, in which three Business Continuity Managers were nominated for the Academy Award 2008 BCM: Dedrie, including Hans Boustein himself. Candidates were judge through their distinguish and proven expertise, innovative ability and creativity in the subject matter.
